"Yes." The extra cost for us to handle all sampling and submission to the lab is only $99. We use an air sampling machine that you wouldn't have access to, that will tell you the levels of mold in your air. While a DIY kit will only allow you to do a surface swab test.
If you are ok with only the surface swab test because you simply want to prove you have mold and know the type of mold growth, and have no intention of having the remediation done professionally, then there is no reason to pay extra.
If your property insurance company requires mold test data from a third-party lab, proving you have mold, then "Yes" a mold test can save you thousands.
Another reason to get a mold test is if you want before and after data. We include two after tests at no extra cost, but you will need to pay for the before test(s).
Otherwise, "No," mold testing or air quality testing is unnecessary."

We always recommend that renters do everything possible to get their property manager or landlord involved. If you can, then we offer a test and report package to assist you in your effort to convince your landlord or property manager to take action. Our package is $340 for 2 indoor air quality or swab samples, a full visual inspection of the property, moisture readings and humidity readings. This price is discounted to help you in a difficult situation.
Which means, no matter what, this will cost you hundreds of dollars. We always recommend getting multiple quotes, but think you will have a hard time finding a better package deal. What's more, if you do have dangerous levels of mold in your property, we are very often successful at persuading landlords to move forward with remediation, and in turn have you reimbursed for your expense.
